George Barna is the president and founder of Barna Research Group. Barna has developed seminars for clients such as The Billy Graham Association, Campus Crusade for Christ, and The Prison Fellowship. Of the books on church growth, this is probably my most preferred of those that I have read recently. Barna dispenses with the verbosity that many authors find necessary to increase the page count of a book and gets right to the chase. I think I could save a reader plenty of time and effort and tell them to peruse the graphs and charts in many of the early chapters and go straight to chapters 8, 9, and 10. There were some helpful insights. The book did nothing to reveal anything ground-breaking (which should not be expected of any church growth book out today), but rather re-emphasized what we have known all along: reaching the unchurched is done through relationships, a personal touch/invitation, and churches whose DNA is the heart of Christ. This was a terrific book!
